Teamster Election Timeline.
__NEW: ELECTION TIMETABLE APPROVED JUNE 3, 1998__
June 15 : Supplemental ballots sent to the 1996 IBT-Convention Delegates. *Note: Some delegates are no longer active Teamsters, or in still in office.
June 29 : Nominating ballots returned and tallied.
July 13 : Deadline for Slate Declarations and candidate withdrawals. * ( Under New Rules, Candidates Are Free to alter existing slates or form new ones.
* For a copy of the March 24, 1998, decision contact the TDU office.
* Free to TDU members, ( others please send in your donation!) "Better yet, Join TDU."
August 17 : Notice of election posted at all work sites and published in IBT MAGAZINE, ballots printed; hiatus on all regular union publications.
September 14 : Mailing Rerun Election ballots to all 1.4 million Active Teamster Members.
October 14, 1998 : Counting of ballots. ELECTION RESULTS TO FOLLOW. ____ FINAL Approval by Judge David Edelstein made on June 3, 1998.

Teamsters Local #117:
Support the Jet Strikers! Warehouse
sorkers at Jet Equipment and Tools in Auburn organized into Local #117 July 1997. After months of negotiations, contract talks broke down, Jet refused to consider basic worker rights as part of contract negotiations. On the first day of the strike, the workers, some of whom have more than 10 years of service were permanently replaced by Jet.
