| TEAMSTERS' JOINT COUNCIL NO. 7
AFFILIATED WITH THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF TEAMSTERS Serving the greater San Francisco Bay Area March 12, 1998 Mr. Charles R. Engel
Dear Brother Engel: I have been informed that you have posted a notice on your web site that appears to have been put out by Teamsters Joint Council No. 7. I am enclosing a copy of the notice that appears on the screen. If you are responsible for the posting of this notice, I am writing to inform you that it is not only unauthorized by the Joint Council, but constitutes a misuse of and infringement upon the Joint Council's identifying format. People viewing the notice will understand it to be a notice published by the Joint Council, which it is not. As such, the notice constitutes a misrepresentation to the viewer. The smaller print stating that the document is "unofficial" and that it is sponsored by "The Steward" does not detract from the appearance that it is a Joint Council No. 7 document. Please accept this letter as a demand that the notice be removed immediately. Noncompliance with this demand will result in charges against you under the I.B.T. Constitution, and possible legal action as well. Fraternally yours,
Rome Aloise

| In response to your letter above, The word "Unofficial"
is now bigger and more numerous and the Teamster logo was removed and replaced
with a horse of another color. I much preferred the Teamster logo.
How about you? These changes you requested have
adjusted the motif of this presentation of public domain information.
It was quite conservative and boring but now a satirical, comedic presentation
along with your letter certainly will attract a much larger viewer population.
Thank you for your Critique of the official unofficial not teamster
local 78 web page. Let me know how you like it and I will
post your response on the internet so the whole world can enjoy it.
I am always open to all suggestion that will improve readership.
Fraternally, Charles R. Engel Teamster Local 78 |
