Mr. Craig Gonsalves
Castro Valley, CA 94546

Dear Mr. Gonsalves:

Please be advised that I am in receipt of the babbling letter dated December 15, 1997, with your signature responding to my letter dated November 24, 1997. Your letter of November 19, 1997 was about "interfering with our rights to file grievances." My letter of November 24, 1997, is a very clear and factual response.

Your letter of December 15, 1997, goes off on other issues that did not pertain to your original alleged complaint. Let's get the facts straight again.

1. You resigned as a shop steward on August 7, 1995, confirmed by the letter I sent you on August 8, 1995, and on August 17, 1995, which are self-explanatory (copy enclosed). You and I both know why you quit as shop steward. If you want to elaborate on that, we can.

2. Mike Medina was not your alternate steward; he is the alternate steward for the Alameda Center, not San Leandro.

3. Robert Alameda did not replace you because you resigned, however, Robert replaced Jerry McCoy when he transferred to feeder.

No one at UPS has been denied the right to file a legitimate grievance. I suggest you read the NLRB language you quoted. I hope you enjoy your holidays.

Fraternally,

Marty Frates
