Castro Valley, California 94546

Dear Craig:

Teamsters Local 70 is in receipt of your letter dated November 19, 1997, regarding "interfering with our rights to file grievances." As usual, you are not factional, but fictional. No one is denied the right to file a grievance if they have a legitimate one. The only thing that has happened is that I have asked you to go through your shop steward, and you seem offended by this.

The shop steward, Robert Alameda, was appointed just like you were. Again, amnesia has struck. Again, you resigned your position as a shop steward; you were not removed.

The filing of a grievance is a right, not a liberty, if you know the contract. You are not being singled out. You could have approached me when I was at UPS and we could have possibly taken care of your problem. However, you decided to take this route.

My behavior is fine. If you have a problem with it, please let me know exactly what it is.

Fraternally,

Marty Frates
Business Representative
