Dear Brothers and Sister:
Thank you for the enclosed letter of October 29,
1997. Your interest in Local 70 and the election of shop stewards at
United Parcel Service is appreciated. Local 70's Stewards Bylaws require
election of shop stewards following ratification of a collective bargaining
agreement. The United Parcel contract has not been ratified by members
working in Louisville and Central Pennsylvania. Hence, there isn't yet
an agreement in place. Once the contract is ratified, Local 70 will hold
shop steward nominations and elections at each center and location within
our jurisdiction.
