Re: Request for Names of Stewards

Dear Chuck:

This letter is in response to the letter of April 25, 1997 from Marty Frates. Marty has indicated that he is no longer willing to correspond with me regarding my request to be informed as to the names of the stewards at the Oakland Hub. Marty stated in his letter of April 25 that he had taken care of the problem of making sure our members know who their authorized stewards are. This does not appear to be true. He has informed neither myself, nor any coworkers I am aware of, as to who the stewards and alternates are for the entire Oakland Hub. Marty stated in his letter of April 3, 1997 that he had contacted the appropriate shop stewards at that time. I was not able to locate anyone that he contacted between March 31 and April 3, 1997 as he stated.

As you know, it is a basic right of Teamsters to be kept informed of the
identity of their union stewards. Please consider this letter to be a formal request to provide this information within five work days.

Fraternally,

Craig Gonsalves
