Close Family friend Amarjit Singh, Ajmer's daughter Jasdeep,
Ajmer's son Satinder and Ajmer's brother Amrik Singh
Ajmer's eldest son Satinder:
He was a great Sikh. He loved kids. He loved everybody. He was a man of God.

Ladies and Gentlemen, most honorable guests, there are no words that can even begin to describe how enormously grateful, my family and I are for all your love and your support during what unquestionably is the single most difficult period of our lives. My fathers death has left us all with a deep sense of shock and exposure. This includes not only his community here but throughout the world.

He was an intense and spiritual man. He was also a devoted husband, who loved his wife and his three children. Beyond being a devoted husband and father, he was an educator, a union activist, and a community leader. But he was first and utmost, a true Gursikh. Throughout the course of his lifetime, be never lost sight of the three basic principals. It is because of this that my father will always be remembered by thousands of people both now and in future generations to come. I, as my father’s son, pledge before you to carry on his mission of advancing the causes of peace and justice. From this day forward, let it be known that together this community stands united to seeing that justice a be served when it comes to punishing those that are responsible for my fathers untimely demise. I come to you requesting that, as a community, please voice your concerns to those who sit directly before me.

We are very thankful, particularly to the great city of Oakland, the great city of Antioch and all the representatives from the Student Union and those wonderful students who poured out all their hearts and showered us with a lot of sympathy and understanding

It’s not enough to talk about his goodness. The love that he felt we can’t find the words to express. He was a very important and influential member of the Sikh Community. Ultimately, while doing his prayers, the devil, in the disguise of a man, came to the house of God and gunned down a true devotee who worked tirelessly to help the Sikh community and the people of this great Nation.

Ajmer Malhi lived by his actions, not only by his words. He practiced what he taught people, what he prayed. He was a man of great character and in that regard he was a wonderful person in this life. Hopefully he will be a great help to the lord almighty. He is with us. Everyone will always remember his actions and his devotion.

I can’t comprehend what happened on that Sunday. About three o’clock I received a message. Knowing Ajmer Singh Malhi, we were aghast.

We had the good fortune and the opportunity to work with Mr. Malhi. We believe that one who gives his life, who leaves this world in the presence of the Guru, is a Martyr. I also believe that Mr. Malhi became one with God. There are things that every individual can do that I think Mr. Malhi did very well. First is to take care of the family. He had a very strong, religious and devoted family. His father was a very religious man. The first duty of an individual is to take care of the family.

He lived his life according to the teachings of the Guru’s. One of the teachings is to serve the community. Sometimes we have time to be active in the community. He was well recognized for his contributions not only in the Sikh community but also the greater community as well. He did not only preach, he set an example by working tirelessly. He changed the picture of El Sobrante.

We have to be involved in the community. That is one of the basic tenants of Sikhs.

Education is the key for everything for our new generation.  He played a very constructive role. He was a devoted Sikh, a Sikh of the Guru. We must work for the well being of our fellow human beings.
