Re: United Parcel Service
Case 32-CA-15881
Dear Mr. Varela:
Thank you for your February 21, 1997 letter. Given your responses, I am assuming, at least for the time being, that the Union is satisfied with the company's answers and its provision of the orientation packet, and that we do not have to be concerned about those matters. Accordingly, when I go to the company for its response to Mr. Engel's charge, I will not be asking about those matters.
At this point, I understand that these are the live issues in Mr. Engel's charge: (a) his being denied access to the facility while he is on workers' compensation; (b) a recent statement by a management official to the effect that Mr. Engel would not be allowed to attend a panel meeting because he was on workers' compensation, even though the panel meeting was not on the company's premises; and (c) information requests that Mr. Engel has made concerning these two matters. If there are additional matters which you believe should be part of this charge, please let me know, or have Mr. Engel let me know. Thanks for your cooperation.
Very truly yours,
Kenneth Ko
Supervisory Attorney
cc: Charles Engel
